Owner For A Race

One lucky winner plus their guest will experience what it is like to have your horse in a race.  Our racing publicist will take you to the paddock to experience the saddling of the horses and “rider’s up” .  You will then go to the winner’s circle to watch the race and after the race get your photo taken with the winning Jockey.

Racing Personalities


Dennis Miller: Horse racing publicist for the Pleasanton Off-Track Betting Facility and the Alameda County Fair

Dennis MillerHe is a co-host of the Daily Handicapping seminars at both the Oak Tree at Pleasanton meet during the Alameda County Fair and Wine Country Racing during the Sonoma County Fair.

Miller also run various promotional events at the Pleasanton OTB facility over the course of the year, including the popular “Race to the Derby” fantasy handicapping contest. He writes a year-round horse racing blog at Miller also competes in national handicapping tournaments each year.

Before coming to the Fair and OTB, Miller was a sports writer that covered and spoke about horse racing for 16 years for the Alameda Newspaper Group, with the Oakland Tribune as the flagship paper in the chain.

Since leaving the paper, Miller has also successfully launched ACES Golf Lifestyle publication. A published writer, Miller regularly authors commentary about horse racing and golf at An accomplished public speaker, Miller also speaks to groups and media outlets about both horse racing and golf.

Miller takes pride that he hit his first $100 exacta in the 5th grade and has never looked back!

Chris Griffin: Track Announcer

Chris GriffinChris Griffin has been in broadcasting for over 10 years. Chris has worked for many top brands around the world and has made strides in the booth as a track announcer. He spent 5 years with the Harlem Globetrotters before his debut at the Humboldt County Fair in Ferndale, CA in 2015. From the fair he moved on to Portland Meadows as their track announcer.

In 2016, he announced at the California State Fair, Humboldt County Fair and right here at both the Oak Tree Summer and Fall meets in Pleasanton. He also announced at Gulfstream Park West in Florida during the late fall racing season.

The Alameda County Fair is excited to have such talent calling our races this year and we hope you come out to enjoy the excitment with us.

Jonathan Horowitz: Guest Handicapper

Jonathan HorowitzJonathan Horowitz is the horse race announcer at Arapahoe Park outside Denver where he also produces and hosts the Gates Open at Arapahoe Park feature television show about the behind-the-scenes of horse racing on Altitude Sports & Entertainment.  Horowitz also broadcasts and does social media for the Arabian Jockey Club, covering Arabian races from California to Abu Dhabi.  Horowitz, 32, began announcing at the age of 14 when he became the youngest person ever to call a horse race in the United States at Los Alamitos Race Course in California in 1999.

Jonathan will be at the Alameda County Fair Oak Tree at Pleasanton races on July 7th and 8th.  July 8th he is a guest handicapper at the morning racing Handicapping Seminar.
