Almanac Brewing Co.
Alameda, CA
Mission
Almanac Beer Co. seeks to bring the “Farm to Table” agricultural approach into the craft beer game so their patrons can experience local ingredients in their brews. Afterall: beer is agriculture!
About
- Founded by Damian Fagan and Jesse Friedman and head brewer João Alameida
- Shift the focus from craft beer to local beer
- Create transparency on where ingredients are sourced

Brewery & Taproom
- Brews beer inspired by California’s rich agricultural traditions
- Experiments with bold flavors and styles
- Prioritizes the local market, the flavors their guests want and what local Mother Nature provides

Farm To Barrel
- ‘Farm to table’ has less options for beer
- Goal is to find local options
- Name refers to the Farmer’s Almanac, a seasonality reference guide for farmers that has been published every year in the U.S. since 1818

The Vendor Connection
- Local fruit and malt vendors give Almanac the best insight into what’s in season
- Local equals freshest ingredients for their brews
- Local resources allows Almanac to capture the best time to brew certain flavors

One Man's Trash is Another Man’s Cattle Feed
Almanac Beer Co. works with local farmers and community members to reduce or reuse their waste in creative ways. For example,
- Produces over 2,000 pounds of spent grain, or grain not used after they’ve extracted the sugar water from it for their beer
- Connected with local farmers who use the spent grain as cattle and quail feed
- Supports water recycling initiatives
Cheers!
