Diablo Ladies Rodeo Drill Team from Livermore California was formed in 1996 by Murrel Lacy as a recreational Drill team, and at that time they rode only Arabian Horses, and were based out of Danville California.
The team performed at Breed specific events, parades, fund raisers, State Fair, and Western State Horse Expo,
In 1999 Murrel Lacy handed the team over to Margaret O’Brien where the team expanded into a rodeo performance drill team, where they traveled all over the state of California performing at various rodeos, parades, fund Raisers, and competing at the Grand National Rodeo Drill Team Competition.
The Diablo’s still travel all over Northern, California performing at various rodeo’s and events. The team is now made up of primarily quarter horses, a few paints, and a lone Arabian. The horses are in ages from 7-20, the lady’s range in age from 14 to don’t ask. The team is thrilled to be able to bring its love of drill to a wide range of audiences. One of them being the last ride of their performance year at the Historic Grand National Rodeo in San Francisco.
The Diablo Ladies also bring awareness to certain charity foundations throughout the year, the American Red Cross, Military Families, Wounded Warrior Foundation, and St. Baldrick’s Foundation which is finding a cure and treatments for children with childhood cancer.
Diablo Ladies motto “Be the Best that you can Be” we believe in team work, good sportsmanship, and taking care of our Equine partner and hope you our audience enjoys our show. And gets a little taste of the sport Equestrian Drill Team. we look forward to sharing our love of drill with the Alameda Country Fair audience.
The Sacramento Sheriff Posse has been a part of the California State Horseman’s Association since 1942 and formed in 1937.
The Sacramento Sheriff Posse was formed in 1937 by a group of local civic minded, business men and volunteers, who aided in the emergency support services for the Sheriff’s Department via horseback.
In those days riders patrolled the extensive levee systems for breaches and performed rescue in areas no accessible via motor vehicles. Today the Sacramento Sheriff Posse stands ready to assist the Sheriff Department if called upon.
The Posse reorganized in 1945 as a parade unit with our “Signature Turn Out “of golden palomino horses with matching silver breast collars, bridles, reins, and beautifully tooled black leather saddles. The parade riding unit and drill team during that era was compromised of all men. Yes, we have come along way baby to get where we are today.
Today the Posse is proud to support Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and carriers the flag awareness at local and regional parades through out the state. Our members of professional women and men donate their time and resources to promote positive support of law enforcement, horsemanship and the responsible alcohol consumption.
The Posse competes in various Equestrian Drill Team competition through out the state of California and are excited to be sharing the team with Alameda County Fair!
Posse also is proud to be riding with their sister teams Sacramento 9-1-1 which is a group of riders who are honing their skills, and a quad team called Sacramento Alarm team. All 3 teams will be at Alameda County Fair June 16th come watch and learn!
