Opening for Fair Summer 2025

Welcome to The Farm at the Fairgrounds

The Farm is a dynamic new educational destination and future field trip hub located on the Fairgrounds. Developed to inspire curiosity and foster learning, The Farm offers children and the wider community a hands-on opportunity to explore the world of local agriculture and its essential role in daily life.

Far more than a display of crops and animals, The Farm illustrates the connection between agriculture, healthy living, and the farm-to-table movement. Through interactive exhibits and real-life farming practices, visitors gain insight into where food comes from and how sustainable agriculture contributes to both personal well-being and environmental health.

Coming This Fair Season: Phase I – The Safeway Barn

Debuting during the annual Fair, June 13 – July 6, Phase I of The Farm features the innovative Safeway Barn. This state-of-the-art structure showcases sustainable building practices, including bifacial solar panels:

  • These unique panels harness energy from both sides—capturing direct sunlight from above and reflected light from below.

  • The water-shedding glass design has slanted panels overlap like shingles, allowing rainwater to flow efficiently into collection troughs on either end.

  • A rainwater harvesting system collects water which will be recycled and reused to support the Safeway Barn’s irrigation needs, promoting a self-sustaining ecosystem.

Looking Ahead: Help Grow The Farm

Phase 2 promises even more excitement on the horizon. Planned features include a central pavilion, outdoor kitchen, water storage tank, and potential additions like an orchard, vineyard or hop yard—each designed to deepen the educational and environmental impact of The Farm.
