Internships

SALARY: $18 per hour
AVAILABLE: May through July 2024

POSITION SCOPE:

As the Marketing & Box Office Intern, you’ll gain hands-on admissions and marketing experience at the largest event center in the East Bay Area! Events include Fair admission, concerts and festivals. Reporting to the Marketing Director, this is a seasonal part time position beginning in May and concluding July 15. You will work with the admissions and marketing team, fulfilling ticket requests, assisting in creating a positive guest experience at the gates, learning ticketing procedures for large scale events, work tasting fests as well as nightly concerts. It is approximately 16 to 25 hours per week increasing to 35-40 hours per week during our annual Fair (June 14-July 7).

POSITION SCOPE:

Marketing Intern is a seasonal, part-time position beginning in April and concluding mid July. The position is designed to offer individuals a real, hands-on experience working in Marketing. The schedule is flexible and starts at approximately 15-25 hours per week from April through May, then increases to 35-40 hours per week during our annual Fair (June14-July 7). Working early, late and/or weekend shifts, as needed, is required. Responsibilities include providing support to the Marketing team in a variety of efforts related to the annual Alameda County Fair. A qualified candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, deadline-conscious and able to multitask.

PR Intern is a seasonal, part-time position beginning at the end of May and concluding mid July. The position is designed to offer individuals a real, hands-on experience working in public relations and with the media. The schedule is flexible and starts at approximately 15-25 hours per week in mid-May, then increases to 35-40 hours per week during our annual Fair (June14-July 7). Working early, late and/or weekend shifts, as needed, is required. Responsibilities include providing support to the Marketing team with public relation efforts. The qualified candidate has an interest in learning about public relations and working with the media. Must be professional, organized, detail-oriented, deadline-conscious and able to multitask.

POSITION SCOPE:
This is a seasonal, part time position beginning in April and concluding at the end of July. It is approximately 16-25 hours per week increasing to 35-40 hours per week during our annual Fair (June 16-July 9). This is an excellent opportunity for an individual eager to learn more about the event sales and events operations. This position supports the Event Sales department in their day-to-day operations during the Fair. Working early, late and/or weekend shifts as needed is required. A qualified candidate is an experienced and confident sales person who is organized and deadline conscious. The ability to handle multiple projects effectively is essential for success.

POSITION SCOPE:
The Sponsorship Intern is a seasonal, part time position beginning in March and concluding at the end of July. This position is designed to offer individuals hands-on sales and marketing experience where they will assist the Account Executive and marketing team on partnering with sponsors, fulfilling contracts, activating brands and creating experiential events during the annual Fair. It is approximately 16 to 25 hours per week increasing to 35-40 hours per week during our annual Fair (June 14-July 7). This position supports the sponsor and marketing team to sell, implement, promote, and activate sponsorship brands before, during, and after Fair. A qualified candidate is a creative, organized, detail-oriented, dead-line conscious, and a confident person with interpersonal skills. The ability to handle multiple projects effectively is essential for success.

Admissions

$17.50/hr

Guest-focused support with mobile device scanners and ticket printers at Admission gates, concerts, tasting fests and horse racing.

$18.50/hr

Manages Admission gates team and guest support, scans tickets and manages ticket printers. Supervisory experience and ability to manage guest entry experience required.

Guest-focused support for entry into the Amphitheater for nightly concerts or Grandstand for horse racing and tasting fests.

Administration

Requires computer & people skills

Audits and prepares reports of food vendor transactions. Must have register and POS system experience and be proficient in Excel with an attention to detail.

Exhibits & Programs

$16.50/hour

Supports multiple buildings in the Exhibits area. Provides information and answers guest questions, safely monitors entrances and exits and prepares competitive entries. Helps set-up, maintain and clean buildings.

Cares for, sells and educates guests about the small animals.

$17.50/hour

Performs physical work helping to set and teardown for livestock shows. Daily cleaning and maintenance of the livestock area.

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Helps with set up, maintenance and tear down of exhibit spaces and community programming.

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Shuttles entertainers/vendors around Fairgrounds. Transports equipment with a pushcart to and from entrance gates to designated areas.

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs and push a cart up to 500 yards.

Guest Services

$17.50/hour

Provides guests with information, handles questions/concerns. Supervises lost children.

Assists with vendor check-in/out and day-to-day operations of the office. Monitors the Commercial Sales buildings and assists with keeping them clean.

Parking

$18.00/hr

Directs traffic, assigns vehicles to parking spaces and verifies credentials.

Greets guests, assists with purchases and scans tickets.

Assists Fair patrons on/off the trams in a safe and responsible manner.

Supports our Grandstand guests and racing operations.
