Every year, Alameda County youth proudly participate in FFA and 4-H livestock projects—raising swine, beef, lambs, goats, and more—to compete at the County Fair. Beyond the initial investment in purchasing animals, feed, and supplies, these projects require countless hours of care, training, and preparation. Through this dedication, participants gain valuable life skills in communication, organization, cooperation, responsibility, and financial management. Their educational journey also touches on key subjects like biology, nutrition, accounting, marketing, and personal accountability.
FFA and 4-H livestock projects help young people build strong values that serve them and their communities for life. At the Alameda County Fair, their hard work culminates when these projects are judged, graded, and sold.
The Junior Livestock Auction is a highlight of the Fair, showcasing months of dedication and effort. It offers the community a special opportunity to invest in the next generation of leaders. Proceeds from the auction not only support future livestock projects but often help fund college education—empowering youth to make lasting contributions to their communities.
As a buyer, your participation acknowledges the time, expense, and effort put into raising these animals. In return, you enjoy top-quality meat, meaningful advertising exposure, and potential tax benefits (consult your tax preparer regarding deductions for amounts paid above market value). Your support ensures the continued success of the Alameda County Junior Livestock Auction and helps sustain a tradition that invests in the future of Alameda County’s youth.
Support the Alameda County Junior Livestock Auction—invest in our youth and our community’s future!
