Every year, the youth of Alameda County carefully choose FFA and 4-H livestock projects, including swine, beef, lambs, goats and more to compete at the county Fair. Beyond the initial investment in purchasing the animals, along with the necessary feed and supplies, these projects demand significant time and dedication to feed, train, and groom the animals for the upcoming show. Engaging in these projects imparts crucial life skills such as communication, organization, cooperation, responsibility, and financial management. The educational journey involves exploring subjects like biology, nutrition, accounting, marketing, and personal accountability.

FFA & 4-H livestock projects provide opportunities for young people to develop solid values that will serve their community wherever they live. At the Alameda County Fair, their hard work pays off when these projects are judged, graded and sold.

The Junior Livestock Auction is a highlight, bringing enthusiasm as it showcases the results of months of effort by local youth. This auction provides the community with a unique chance to invest in the future of these young individuals. The proceeds from the project sales not only support next year’s endeavors but often contribute to funding college education, empowering these youth to make significant contributions to their communities.

As a buyer, your participation in the auction recognizes and appreciates the time, expense, and effort invested in raising these market animals. In return, you gain access to top-quality meat, advertising value, and potential tax benefits (consult with your tax preparer regarding deductions for amounts paid above market value). Your support is crucial in ensuring the success of the Alameda County Junior Livestock Auction and, more importantly, in investing in the future of Alameda County’s youth.

Please support the Alameda County Junior Livestock Auction by investing in the youth of Alameda County!
